Across Kosovo, small businesses in the furniture and apparel sectors are taking confident steps into the digital world. Many of these businesses—often family-run or small in scale—face challenges in keeping up with technology. Recognizing these challenges, the FEGO Project has developed targeted support activities to help private sector businesses in the furniture and apparel industries begin their digital transformation practically and sustainably. Digital Diagnostics: Start with What You Need One of the first steps is understanding where each business stands digitally. Through a participatory digital diagnostic process, selected companies will receive hands-on support to assess their current digital maturity in areas like operations, sales, and inventory. Each participating business will be provided with a tailored digital roadmap that outlines low-cost or free tools they can use to improve efficiency, such as cloud storage, task managers, and customer relationship tools. The process includes practical steps and training for internal staff to support ongoing use. What can others learn? That digital transformation doesn’t require big investments. With a bit of support and the right tools, even small businesses can become more efficient and future-ready. ERP Systems: Running the Business Smarter For companies ready to take their systems to the next level, a separate intervention is helping them implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. These systems bring accounting, HR, inventory, production, and other functions together into a single platform. Businesses can choose from packages based on their needs and receive partial financial support from the FEGO project to cover system setup and training. The goal is to reduce manual work, support data-based decisions, and lay the foundation for scalable growth. The lesson here? Modern tools aren’t just for big companies. With guidance and support, small enterprises can adopt systems that help them grow more professionally and sustainably.
E-Commerce Integration: Selling Online Made Simple Another area of support focuses on helping businesses improve their online sales. Companies can either launch a new online store or integrate secure payment systems into their existing websites. With technical support and co-financing, each solution is customized to the business’s stage of digital development. This activity aims to help companies expand their market reach, improve their digital visibility, and meet the growing demand for online shopping, both locally and beyond Kosovo, thus increasing this way export opportunities. How You Can Be Part of It Interested businesses can become part of these opportunities by applying during open calls. Application details and timelines will be shared soon on FEGO’s official channels. These digital support activities are part of a broader mission to promote innovation and sustainable growth. Whether you're a small producer, an entrepreneur, or someone with a business idea, there’s always space to learn, improve, and grow.
The project Fostering Employment and Growth Opportunities (FEGO) aims to boost inclusive market systems development in Kosovo to generate self-employment in the apparel, furniture, and rural tourism sectors. Funded by SIDA, implemented by Swisscontact.
