Fostering Positive Changes in Partnerships with Local Governance in Kosovo

In Kosovo, the FEGO project is continuously working with the local governance to transform and foster tourism initiatives. The project is actively working towards developing new emerging tourist destinations and creating tourist brands that would attract a broader spectrum of visitors. These efforts are driving a reorientation and prioritization of tourism development within the project's selected destinations, necessitating a reallocation of resources towards the advancement of tourism. Such a story comes from the Municipality of Kamenica where the FEGO project has been working with the local governance in product development, providing technical expertise, and the creation of the tourist destination brand. During this year, a Zip Line outdoor adventure product has been installed in the villages surrounding Kamenica, and the project has also supported them with technical expertise in the design and development of an Adventure Park. The project has been actively engaged in the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring that the local offerings align with the preferences and expectations of visitors. The support to the municipality will continue to functionalize the new outdoor tourism products through capacity-building and create a brand for the area through technical expertise.

In parallel with its ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable tourism development, the FEGO project has expanded its collaborative efforts with the Municipality of Ferizaj. Building upon previous initiatives of technical expertise for the development of the menu of outdoor products that showcase the region's natural and cultural richness, the FEGO project has entered into a partnership with the Municipality of Ferizaj for product development in the Jezerc area. The project is currently supporting the development of the Tibetan Bridge and Via Ferrata, whereas the Municipality is further investing in the development of a tourism zone, contributing to the region's establishment as an adventure destination. To complete the new tourism offer, the project has also supported the Municipality in the training of local tourist guides to offer tours to interested tourists/visitors. In tandem with these objectives, FEGO’s support has been extended also to the Municipality of Vitia, where the project’s support has been instrumental in crafting a tourist brand. Vitia is a destination that has a lot to offer, but despite its wealth of cultural and historical treasures, this region has remained undiscovered by many. The FEGO project is working towards changing this narrative, by supporting the local governance to bring Vitia into the spotlight and reveal its hidden treasures to a broader audience through technical expertise for the design of the destination tourist brand. The journey is not just about unveiling the beauty of Vitia but also about fostering sustainable growth and prosperity for the local community. Through these initiatives, the project aims to foster a favorable environment for economic growth while simultaneously creating new tourism opportunities and empowering local communities to manage and sustain these initiatives. FEGO is dedicated to creating tourism models that respect and enhance the local way of life, contributing not only to the long-term sustainability of the tourism industry but also ensuring that the communities involved benefit socially, economically, and culturally.
